Trustees are elected by the membership at our Annual General Meeting (AGM).
The Charity Commission recommends that Trustees be selected for what they can contribute to the organisation. They are men and women who have experience of serving within their own Refugee Community Organisations, to support their community. By serving on the Board, these individuals dedicate their time, their skills, experiences, knowledge and commitment to serving the interests of all refugees and asylum seekers in the region. We know how busy our members are, so we greatly respect the people who serve as Trustees for their additional commitment. The Board is served and supported by the Forum’s staff. Hopefully, the experience also provides Trustees with valuable learning, the chance to develop skills in governance and strategic planning, and for making a difference on a regional and even national level too.
The rules for election to the Board are written in the RRF's Constitution, which was signed by 21 founder members organisations in March 2003, and, after a full review, amended by the membership on 20th March 2012 to incorporate Best Practice in Governance.
