Who we are

What we do
✓ We help women from different communities rebuild their lives in Middlesbrough, by building confidence and giving peer support and advice to each other
✓ We help people with health problems to clean and tidy their houses for free, for a healthier and happier home

Current Activities
Coffee morning with a difference for women – every Wednesday 9.30 to 11am at Newport Community Hub, St Paul’s Road, Middlesbrough. We begin with 30 minutes of fun exercise to music, then sometimes we have a speaker to share information with us and listen to our challenges, or they may deliver some training, and other times we just discuss our issues and share ideas together. Coffee and snacks. Topics have included: Food safety at home First Aid training and training as Community Ambassadors for the Ambulance Service The menopause Cancer awareness Public Health join us once a month to discuss any issues we have and share latest information with us.

Confident Readers Club every Tuesday from 4pm to 5.50pm at Newport Settlement Youth & Community Centre in partnership with House of Mercy Middlesbrough. For mothers and children aged 6 months to 12 years
Other activities organised: Healthy cooking, exercise, park walks, picnics, arts & crafts, family outings, healthy living advice, Iftar, information about support and opportunities in the area, training and discussing shared issues and solutions
Who can join us?
Women who want to join other women to support each other to rebuild their lives in Middlesbrough and live a healthier life.
We work mostly with women who had to leave their homes across Africa and are now asylum seekers or refugees living in Middlesbrough. But we welcome women from any country who want to join us. Currently ladies from The Gambia, Senegal, Nigeria, Tanzania, Sudan, Somalia, South Africa and Pakistan enjoy our activities.
